About Us

Funkademic is a Rhode Island-based band playing funk, soul, pop, and R&B on period-correct instruments. Founded at Brown University in 2019, Funkademic has quickly become one of the most beloved bands on the local festival and club circuit, appearing regularly at WaterFire, Narragansett Brewery, the Rhode Island Seafood Festival, 133 Club, Askew, and many other venues.

Our repertoire consists of upbeat, groove-based, high-energy music from the 1960s to today, including crowd favorites by Lizzo, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Prince, the Meters, Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa, Tina Turner, and many others. Fronted by two powerhouse female singers and featuring a top-flight rhythm section, Funkademic brings passion, energy, and laughter to every show.
